This year, tablets, or tablet PC, or slate (or we’ll simply call it tablet) are becoming popular. More and more people are attracted by its appearance, portability, performance and the latest technologies incorporated within it. The question is, “why should I buy a tablet?”
The answer to this question is really obvious, for the must of us, we don’t even bother thinking why, because instantly our heart tells – must be, or, definitely yes! Though the feeling comes from the heart, here are some reasons that you might consider, or think about on why you should buy one for you.
There are myriad uses of a tablet, from inside the house, played by kids, for special child with autism, to doctors during operations, aircraft pilots, I’ve also encountered a priest that uses a tablet to read a soft copy of a bible, and oh, I almost forgot, it was even used by astronauts in the International Space Station. Actually everyone. Users found its use in different fields.
What are the key features that we’ll love on a tablet? We’ve listed several that are commonly used in general.
So here’s a few reasons on why should I buy a tablet.
1. Touchscreen interface.
Using touchscreen as an input made this computer more interactive to user. Having the screen as the input, there’s less physical buttons, less buttons means less confusion to users, that is it becomes a lot more user friendly.
2. Portable.
Aside from cell phones or smartphones, tablets are designed to be as light as possible. It is a lot less bulky than a laptop or netbook so you can carry it in cafe, school, park, mall, and anywhere, by hand.
3. Longer battery life.
A typical laptop or notebook computer have a battery that can last up to 4 hours. There are high-end laptops that have batteries that can last up to 8 or 10 hours, though they are more expensive. Another option is to separately purchase a battery pack with more cells on it, unfortunately, these will add up to the weight of the laptop. On the other hand, most tablets today offers a battery life of up to 8 hours or even 10 hours of video playback or Wi-Fi. Even though tablets have lighter weight and smaller dimensions, they have enough battery juice to last longer hours of usage, thanks to these combination of especially designed ICs and sensors with low-power consumption.
4. Wireless connectivity.
Nowadays, we, users wanted to be always connected on the internet. We wanted to have access to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus, watch videos from YouTube, read blogs, play online games, video chat using popular apps such as Skype or Yahoo messenger, or even productivity apps on available thru cloud computing and myriad online apps and websites on the internet. Connectivity is essential to these tablets, its features are more maximized when we connect to the internet.
5. Better gaming experience.
With the integration of gyroscopes and or similar sensors, together with the touchscreen interface, gaming on a tablet becomes more exciting and interactive. From simple puzzle games, arcade games, racing or even flight simulation games.
6. Entertainment anywhere music, photos and videos.
Tablets are also one the best music players, best on viewing photos and of course watching movies due to its easy-to-carry construction
7. Read hundreds or even thousands of ebooks and manuals.
Read virtually any ebook, the tablet’s storage capacity is the limit. With a typical 7 to10 inches display size, tablets are perfect ebook readers. From newspapers, novels, magazines, comics to manuals and all types of reading materials, almost all of them can be read on a tablet.
8. Access to thousands of games, media, productivity and utility software.
With the App Store, Android Market as examples, almost all platform for tablets have access to online software stores. Users can choose from these growing number of apps and software, then download them at very low cost, one to two dollars are common prices, but most are offered free of charge, only a few are priced at five dollars or more.
These are just a few on the list of reasons on why buy a tablet. Many consumer electronics are starting to manufacture their own tablet line up, so expect that their price will also go down due to tight competition.
